5x14 Cherry stave snare, work in progress

Hi, my name is Ed. I used to post here but I haven't built any drums in more than 10 years. I'm mostly a cymbalholic guy these days.

Anyway, here's a snare I'm working on. It's a 5x14" cherry stave shell from Terry at Daville (thanks Terry!). I'm using boiled linseed on it, and there are 7 or 8 coats on it now, though I haven't really been counting. It's looking great, and I think now it maybe needs just one more coat and I'll get to the final drilling and assembly.

It's going to have 8 single-point brass lugs and Slingerland COB hoops. I'll post some more pics as the assembly progresses. Thanks for looking! Ed

Love it! Terry makes awesome shells. Make sure you use some good fender washers with the single point lugs.

    BTW, I'm a cymbalholic too...varatrodder over there.
