    New(ish) additions...

EDITED with more info (25 Sep @ 5:40p)

CV, your question is answered below, good sir...okay, my humble apologies, I was at work *gasp* and couldn't go into much detail, but here we go....

The snare is the same 13x6.5 true solid black walnut shell I've had, and put up on here few different times, in a few different configs. For this, the final version, here are the specs:
    - 1/2" thick wall, hand-oiled and waxed
    - RO outer/45 inner bearing edges
    - unique, deep, pronounced snare beds...my own design...like it or hate it, they sounds damn good...sorry no pics, will attempt to get some at some point
    - Ego 'Rounded' lug posts & AllStar FAT tubes, all in hand brushed/polished aluminum (huge pain in the arse)
    - tan leather lug washers
    - Trick chrome throw/butt
    - Yamaha cast aluminum hoops
    - Remo X14 batter/Ambassador snare
    - Puresound wires
    - Celtic knot badge (that's a long story)

The floor tom is actually a 'gong' tom...specs are:
    - 16x12 true SOLID black walnut crotch, 1/2" wall w/integrated 1/8" re-rings (yes, it's stable, after sitting on Rich Ferdolage's shelf in CA for six years)
    - RO outer/45 inner bearing edges
    - GN lugs, graciously provided by Mr. DaVille Drumworks himself
    - tan leather lug washers
    - Stellar! maple thickly hoops w/ inner & outer walnut plies
    - Gauger aluminum 'half-plates' w/ DW brackets and aluminum FT legs, attached lovingly to bottom hoop (x3)
    - Remo Emperor clear batter/SilentStroke 'reso' (considering going with a Diplomat clear to fill the sound out a bit more...)

The snare...well, let's just say dynamite comes in small parcels. This may be a 13" snare, but she really does sound much bigger. She has some bark, a little overtone that is quite controlled by the solid shell's nature, and a body/timbre that really must be felt AND heard. The sensitivity this drum possesses is quite insane. I fart across the room, and the snares activate. Gentle taps respond openly, and solid rimshots speak with a resounding woody crack, with no indication of 'topping-out'. The open tone is no doubt aided by the light cast aluminum hoops. Still trying to find the sweet spot for tuning, but it sounds outstanding both medium and medium-high, so I'm having trouble making up my mind...

The gong tom, well, that's an entirely different animal. My other [hanging] double-headed walnut floor tom shakes the house. This gong tom is tuned lower, but with the mesh bottom head it gives more of an flatter 808 bass drop sort of tone. Hence, I'm considering replacing the bottom head with a thin reso to fill the tone out more. Not having the brackets even close to touching the shell is both novel and I'm sure it helps with the tone, more so than the 'traditional' suspension mounts that attach via the lugs (non-believers, flame on...IDGRA). I just did it cuz it looks cool and I've not seen anyone else do it this way...my kick drum spurs are mounted in a somewhat similar manner.

I'm a fan of doing shit most would consider excessive...hence why it took eight years/five iterations to get that snare to where I was happy with it (three years with the gong tom... just never had time). I'd welcome any feedback, good or bad. I just know I love these pieces; they look and sound amazing with the rest of the kit. Carry on, all... -Art
