So will your last words be either: "Hey ya'll, watch this!" or "Hold muh beer"

I vote "hold muh beer"

Well I thought about it more... and reallized he probably wouldn't trust anyone to hold his beer.. he'd want it in one hand for sure.

I'd like to challenge anyone to separate Woody from his beer.

Woody, I'm glad you're still with us. I was worried.

Looks like his is a hot project!

This is some very cool stuff... er, hot stuff... whatever.

Seriously, I've never even built a drum, but I'm gittin' ready to... and I was already thinking a blow torch would be a helluva cool tool. Can't wait to see how this one develops.

Woody, your videos rock. That totally just convinced me I can do a bearing edge without ruining a good shell. I've had the router table set up for a couple weeks, practicing on straight boards. Now I believe I'm ready to give Mr. Sooy some more of my money and try making a drum. Many thanks for the inspiration.

And your drum looks kick ass. Can't wait to see it with some hardware on there.

Great vids Woody. It's one thing to read how drums are made, but seeing different techniques builders use is very educational. I'd like to see more builders do this in the future. Maybe the next contest? - Best tutorial video

I see an etherial landscape on your drum. The burnt part is everything on the ground with trees in the distance, and the wood part is the sky.

"Wax on, wax off" Nearly fell off my chair laughing!

Technically, it should have been "wax on, whacks off". I guess it works better in writing.

Very nice, very slick!

I have to admit, that when I first read of your plans, I thought, "What a cool idea" - we're talking an open flame, for God's sake! - but I wasn't convinced that I'd like the final appearance. The end result looks very hip, however - especially in the transition between the burnt and unburnt sections. Black hardware is an excellent choice as well, IMO.

Bravo! :)

That's a pretty drum Woody! You should start painting giant landscapes with a blowtorch on big sheets of birch plywood, and then oil them up.
